The Top Oils I'm Using Right Now

Summer is here and while that usually means loads of energy the rain and pressure systems passing through Columbus lately combined with COVID-19 and the state of our nation (from systemic racism to LGBTQ and women’s rights) have meant I’ve needed extra help in that department. So, I’ve switched up my oil routine to support my overall health during this time. I’ve especially been focusing on sleep, oxidative stress, detoxification, immune response, and energy production. When any one of these things is out of balance it greatly increases the load on our body making us more susceptible to moodiness, lethargy, and yes, illness. Read on for the top oils I’m using right now. I switch up my go-to oil routine based on the state of my being and the world around me... maybe you should try it too!

Cypress and Grapefruit. Mornings are all about WAKING UP. So, I put a little coconut oil in my palm, a few drops of Cypress and Grapefruit, rub together, inhale, and massage onto my arms, legs, and back of neck. Cypress is invigorating and grounding while Grapefruit Energizes. I’ve used this combo for years and come back to it whenever I need a boost.. definitely a long time favorite.

Clary Calm. Somehow I need help waking up and staying asleep. Who can feel me? I’ve tried lots of oils for sleep and like anything, we should be rotating our oils every few months for maximum benefit. So, Clary Calm is currently my sleep go to. I roll this on the bottoms of my feet, back of neck, and wrists just before bed for it’s slumber inducing properties.

Zendocrine. Detoxing is super important any time of year, but I’ve especially been drawn to it lately. I have a feeling this is because my emotional and spiritual self has been stirred up in a major way. When this happens it’s important to support our detox pathways as they help the body metabolize emotions as well as toxins. Zendocrine is especially good for this because it was formulated by doctors to enhance the body’s natural detoxification processes. The oil contains Cilantro and Tangerine which pull toxins out of the cells to be sent to processing centers such as the kidneys, gallbladder, and liver. It is in these organs that the Juniper Berry, Rosemary, and Geranium facilitate the purging of toxins from the body. I have found this to be a strong oil, so I recommend my clients start slow and build up. I usually dip a toothpick in the bottle of Zendocrine and swirl it in a cup of hot tea or water (pro tip- use the toothpick before throwing it away to get the last bits of oil and freshen breath) both morning and night, building up to one full drop. Another gentle way to use is to dilute with a carrier oil and rub over liver, kidneys, or on bottoms of feet. I should note, this is also available as a softgel.

DDR Prime. I was slow on the uptake with this blend and ever since I bought it I have wondered why I didn’t try it sooner! DDR Prime is formulated to protect against oxidative stress, up-regulate our body’s natural immune response, and calm the nervous system. I often add a drop to my water morning or mid-day. Adding Myrrh, Copaiba, and Turmeric to DDR Prime even supports thyroid health. For this, I add a few drops of each oil along with a carrier such as fractionated coconut or avocado oil to a rollerball and rub over my thyroid and on wrists and ankles mornings or mid-day when I feel I need a boost (note: I use approximately 15 drops TOTAL of essential oils in my roller ball blends). Inhaling the scent is a pick-me-up in itself. Not feeling well? Try My Natural Remedy. The recipe is my family’s go to for colds or when we feel our respiratory system could use some support. So many reasons to love!

Copaiba. With the changes in barometric pressure I’ve had more aches and pains. Since Copaiba works on the endocannabinoid system it is anti-inflammatory and my go to for pain. When I’m experiencing more pain than usual I take a softgel at night (bonus - it also aids with restful sleep) or add a drop of the essential oil to my coffee or matcha in the morning. However, relieving pain isn’t Copaiba’s only superpower. If the state of the world has you stressed out, this oil may become your new best friend as it eases anxiety and supports the immune system. Zen out mode on!
